Presentation at a space medicine workshop themed on BIOSENSORS

On October 6, 2025, at La Trobe University’s City Campus in Melbourne, we were honored to have our representative, Goto, invited as one of three speakers from Japan to the BIOSENSORS×SPACE WORKSHOP hosted by the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS), an affiliated research institute of La Trobe University.

This workshop brings together researchers, engineers, clinicians, and healthcare industry players from universities near Melbourne to explore biosensors—a field gaining global attention—as part of a new initiative aiming for innovation in both space and terrestrial medicine.

Goto discussed SMA’s initiatives aiming to create new space medical businesses through industry-academia collaboration, along with topics such as: “Headaches in Space,” “Medical Challenges and Needs in Space,” and “Potential Space Applications for Biosensors.”

The day concluded with participants and speakers gathering face-to-face to exchange opinions and ideas, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

This has been an excellent start for discussions on biosensors in space and future development.
We hope to continue deepening our relationship so that this experience can also contribute to the advancement of space medicine in Japan.
